ALTA and Spencer Stuart initiate call for nominations for 11th Annual Federico Bloch Award

LogoALTAMIAMI - ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) and Spencer Stuart issued a call today for nominations for the 11th Annual Federico Bloch Award, which will be presented during the Awards Dinner at the ALTA Airline Leaders Forum in Nassau, Bahamas on November 13. The award commemorates the legacy of the late Federico Bloch, a pioneer in Latin American aviation and a significant force behind the creation of Grupo TACA (now Avianca).

The Federico Bloch award recognizes outstanding leadership in the advancement and integration of the commercial aviation industry in Latin America and has been presented to the CEO´s of leading airlines and aviation-related organizations since 2004. Nomination requires the fulfillment of one or more of the following:

  • Launch of a successful new business;
  • Fostering of cooperation across the region;
  • Introduction of progressive business practices;
  • Support for the growth of the industry by creating conditions for success; or
  • Going beyond the call of duty to advance the interests of the aviation industry in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Nominations will be judged by an independent five-member panel with the support of Spencer Stuart, one of the world's leading global executive search and leadership consulting firms. Those judges are:

  • Enrique Borgo Bustamente, former president of TACA and former vice president of El Salvador
  • Alfonso Pasquel, CEO of Grupo Questro and former president of AeroMexico
  • Mark Pilling, publisher of Flightglobal Publications
  • Fernando Pinto, president of TAP Air Portugal and former president of Varig
  • Emilio Romano, former president of Telemundo Media and former CEO of Grupo Mexicana de Aviación
