Big banks lend money to finish El Dorado

BOGOTA – The International airport operator, Opain S.A. received U.S. $ 390 million to complete the works of El Dorado International Airport.

The CAF, a development bank in Latin America, the Interamerican Development Bank and  the China Development Bank (CDB), came together to support the project of the airport.

The resources correspond to 32% of the estimated amount for the work amounting to U.S. $ 1,200 million. Enrique García, CAF chief executive, highlighted the role of the financial institution, as a driver of the region's relationship with Asia, Europe and North America, through agreements with major financial institutions and development in these regions.

El Dorado International Airport Luis Carlos Galan is the third largest passenger traffic in Latin America. In 2006, Opain S.A. was awarded the concession for the Colombian government unit Special Administrative Civil Aeronautics (Aerocivil) to modernize the terminal and add new cargo facilities.
