First pilots EZ Air leave for training in America

EZAirWILLEMSTAD - The first group of 3 pilots from EZ Air has departed to obtain their so-called type-rating on the Beechcraft 1900, with which the company wants to operate flights between the islands and the region. Franklin Antoin, Järl Henriquez and Lorenzo Silié are accompanied during the training by inspector Sereya Mostert-Schotborg of the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA).

The program has a theoretical and a practical part and takes about 2 weeks. Immediately after returning of the first group, a second group of already selected pilots will leave for the training.

According to EZ Air director René Winkel, his company is currently being bombarded by applications. "And not only from pilots, but also from ground staff and technicians," says the airline entrepreneur. According to Winkel, the company, which has 2 aircraft of the type Beechcraft 1900D (each with 18 seats) and 2 Britten-Norman aircraft with 9 seats each, will start with around 50 staff. EZ Air will start flights between the ABC islands, but then also carry out flights to neighboring countries and islands.

Winkel cannot yet mention the exact date on which the flights start, but expects that the airline will start carrying out scheduled flights within a few weeks. "The planes will soon be coming to Curaçao from Florida and we still have to do a few more actions to certify the Beechcraft aircraft," says Winkel.
