INAC suspends four national airlines

maiquetiaairportCARACAS – Irregularities and delayed flights, no alteration of itineraries, report of fraudulent sales quotas, leaving passengers stranded because of equipment failures, there were reasons why the Venezuelan aviation authorities sanctioned the four national airlines Aeropostal, Aerotuy, ASERCA Airlines and even the state owned Conviasa.

On Wednesday, the National Institute of Civil Aviation began doing inspections. The airlines, which had to suspend services and counter ticketing, were applied numerals 1 and 2 of Article 126 of the Civil Aviation Act. They are only serving passengers who previously acquired their tickets and flights are sent with several empty seats on the various routes. It was learned unofficially that the suspension will continue until Tuesday morning.

The airline Conviasa covers more than 20 domestic routes and, like Aeropostal and ASERCA Airlines, there is a high demand for their flights. Aereotuy operates 3 daily flights to Los Roques.

"At 6:00 am there were over a hundred passengers at the ticket offices of these airlines looking to buy a ticket," said Jose Briceno, director of a transportation company in the domestic terminal. It is expected that this week the number of suspended carriers increases, as the INAC will continue with its inspections.
