Insel Air considering stopping operations to and from Venezuela

Insel Air ArubaWILLEMSTAD – The Curacao airline Insel Air is considering stopping its flights to and from Venezuela. In November of last year, the company already announced that they will start operating on those routes with smaller aircrafts. Now they have to adjust the frequency of their flights. The cause of these measures is the lack of payments by the Venezuelan foreign exchange regulator CADIVI.

The major problem Insel Air has now is that all the money the company makes in Venezuela cannot leave the country. The company has been waiting for a year. According to the Curacao Tourist Board (CTB), Venezuela is an important tourist market for the island.
