InselAir analyzing Venezuelan proposal for debt payment

Insel AirWILLEMSTAD – The local aviation company InselAir has received a payment proposal from the Venezuelan government. According to Edward Heerenveen, they have received this proposal since Friday last week. The airline is supposed to study the proposal and give feedback to the Venezuelan authorities.

InselAir does not see this proposal as a take it or leave it proposal, the InselAir Director said. Heerenveen indicated that they understood that the Venezuelan authorities are not recognizing the amount which InselAir has deposited in the foreign exchange regulator CADIVI last year. CADIVI does not recognize this because the international airlines have increased their ticket rates beyond proportion in the second half of last year.

InselAir did not increase its rates disproportionately and is not accountable for what happened in the second half of the year, according to Heerenveen.

Meanwhile InselAir is fueling its aircrafts at Venezuelan airports. “We fuel whatever the capacity is of our aircrafts,” Heerenveen said.
