KLM is for standard size hand luggage
AMSTERDAM, WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch aviation company KLM supports the initiative of the international aviation organization IATA to come to a standard size for hand luggage on aircrafts. This is according to a KLM spokesperson. “The importance and comfort of passengers is always our priority.”
“For passengers flying with different airlines, it is easier if they do not have to see on each website site each time to check what sizes are allowed.”
IATA wants to apply a standard size of 55x35x20 cm to hand luggage. This format would fit in the storage compartment in the cabin of aircraft with over 120 seats. Various airlines now decide which dimensions a hand luggage may have. This creates confusion and irritation at the check in counter.
There are about 250 airlines registered at the international aviation organization.
