Leased SLM aircraft landed with problems at Zanderij

SLMWILLEMSTAD – Eyewitnesses saw smoke and then flames come out of the right engine of the aircraft that was leased from Euro-Atlantic Airways by the Surinam Airways (SLM). “It is incomprehensible that the pilot has not returned to the airport,” said an eyewitness to the Suriname news site Star News. His wife and child were on board to Paramaribo.

The PY 993 is delayed arriving at the Johan Adolf Pengel airport. The aircraft is still in Zanderij. The flight was canceled last night. Passengers on the plane heard a loud bang on takeoff. The people inside noticed that there was something going on, but they got no explanation of it.

The device CS-TFT Boeing 767 3YO/ER is still in Zanderij. It is not clear what will happen next. The aircraft landed with problems. There is no information if Euro-Atlantic Airways will send another aircraft to pick up the stranded passengers

The SLM Airbus A340-300 is currently in Bordeaux, France for a major overhaul, the so called C-check.
