Minister Cooper reprimands DAE

WILLEMSTAD - Airline DAE has been reprimanded by Minister Charles Cooper of Transport (MAN). The airline offered tickets under the legally agreed minimum prices applicable for flights between Curaçao, Bonaire, Aruba and St. Maarten, this informs the Minister through his spokesman. DAE received this morning a letter from Minister Cooper.

At the time, Minister Kenneth Gijsbertha (MAN)set minimum rates fixed for return flights Curaçao-Sint Maarten (350 guilders), Curaçao-Aruba (200 guilder) and Curaçao-Bonaire (150 guilders). Gijsbertha brought this way a halt what some called ' displacement ' competition, a war was waged with rock bottom prices on different routes from Curaçao.

Insel Air earlier was whistled back this year by the Department of Aviation because the company offered a ' long weekend ' for 100 guilders to Bonaire and back which is rate that is well below the minimum laid down by ministerial guidelines.

‘Get a three, pay two action'- offered by DAE in February 2012 was allowed to continue, although there, too, according to experts, they went against the rules. The Executive Board of Aviation Curaçao however, ruled in favor of DAE.
