SANTIAGO - A drizzle that sometimes became intense and two landing attempts were some of the stories of the first flight of the route Santiago LAN-Chiloé that the airline inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Transport Minister Pedro Pablo Errazuriz.

The route will have four weekly flights to the Big Island, and providing greater connectivity to residents and tourists wishing to visit the area.

"For us it is a very important day, and more important is that we are able to realize, is crucial step connectivity to the island and we really believe we now have the best connectivity level. It takes someone the same amount of time from the airport to Santiago as was before to Puerto Montt, and is therefore a very substantive transformation, "said Transport Minister in Chiloé.

Mocopulli airfield had an investment of $ 40 million. "Today we are very happy and excited, it's a very important day for LAN and Chiloé with the opening of our route number 16, this is a step that contributes to the development of LAN Chile," said Enrique Elsaca, general manager in Chile LAN.

Elsaca also added that "in Chile today is difficult to realize projects of this scale, when all authorities agree they can make these investments that enable a leap in the development of people and tourism."
