Call for tax treaty with Venezuela

CaracasWILLEMSTAD – The interest group for the Curacao International Financial Services (CIFA) wants the government to work on a tax treaty with Venezuela. Reason for this is that currently businesses are paying double taxes when doing business with the southern neighbors.

The stated goals for entering into a treaty include reduction of double taxation, eliminating tax evasion, and encouraging cross-border trade efficiency. It is generally accepted that tax treaties improve certainty for taxpayers and tax authorities in their international dealings.

On November 23, a delegation of the Curaçao government led by Prime Minister Ivar Asjes will travel to Venezuela together with the royal couple.
