CAP, Curaçao’s partner for the next 20 years

P1020387WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) is a consortium of private investors such as Aport (Zurich Airport), Jansen De Jongh (Netherlands), CCR (Brazil - Infrastructure and Airport Management). This group has a 15 billion dollar market value.

CAP has taken the financial, operational, and development risk of the airport from the government and put it into private hands and has ensured an optimal managerial and financial efficiency, while achieving or exceeding international standards in airport operations and management.

IN 2013, CAP invested almost 10,000,000 dollars in passenger amenities, Runway/Taxiway/Ramp upgrades, Safety and new Baggage X-Ray systems. This year CAP will invest almost 10,000,000 dollars in runway upgrades, safety, terminal building expansion, Hato Building renovation, General Aviation Center and the Public Mirador (viewpoint).

According to CAP’s CEO, Ralph Blanchard, the airport design and architectural team is world class. They were part of major airport projects in the US (Miami, Atlanta, New York, DFW, Sacramento…); China, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Korea… They design the most advanced and sophisticated airports in the world to the highest international airport standards. “Our focus has been on an expansion that meets our future operational and business needs. It should also meet all international standards. It should be cost-effective and must use all existing facilities to the extent possible,” Blanchard stated.

“In the next 20 years (at least), CAP is your airport partner. Before it was privatized, the airport (Government) was losing millions of guilders annually. Today, the airport is generating millions of US$ that goes directly to the Government. We see a very promising future for Curacao and CAP will do its part to make certain that the full potential of the airport is achieved.”

The Next 20 Years

“We hope that the spirit of partnership that we extend to the Government and people of Curacao, will likewise be extended to CAP as we press forward to make the Curacao International Airport the best that it can be. Hold CAP accountable for CAP’s responsibilities, not for things that are the responsibilities of the Government or other partners,” Blanchard said.
