CBS starts with the National Accounts Survey for financial year 2015
WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) will start on June 15 with the National Accounts Survey for the year 2015. This survey asks for financial information of the companies in Curaçao which include sales, labor costs and investments. This information is usually obtained from the financial statements of a company, but in small one-man businesses an estimate is based on daily or weekly turnover.
Nearly 1,400 companies participate in this annual survey. Large companies, which are companies with 10 employees or more, participate each year. A sample is taken of the companies with less than 10 employees (small businesses), and they must provide the financial figures to the CBS for four consecutive years. After this, other (small) businesses are again selected to participate.
The information from the annual survey is used to fill in part of the Curaçao National Accounts. The National Accounts show the economic transactions between sectors, which took place in the national economy in a given year.
The information obtained from the National Accounts Survey is also used to describe the results of this survey, or analyze certain parts of the economy, such as small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Since its about the annual figures of the past financial year (2015), information from the survey will be available until the second half of 2017.
The results and analysis of the survey appear in the CBS statistical magazine “Modus” and also other publications.
CBS wants to thank all companies for their cooperation in this survey.
