Central Bank investigation starting

WILLEMSTAD – The Governments of Curacao and Sint Maarten will start an investigation into the Central Bank. The Central Bank of the Netherlands will lay out the frame indicating how deep this investigation should go. This is according to the Minister of Finance Mr. Jose Jardim.

The Minister explained that he recently signed a common declaration with the Sint Maarten Minister of Finance Mr. Tuitt, where a compromise was established for both Governments to execute an investigation into the Central Bank. This is important to bring clarity into the whole situation surrounding the Central Bank and its President. The Central Bank of the Netherlands will also indicate which organization will do the investigation.

There are rumors about a certain letter which was sent by the Board of Directors where they expressed their distrust in the President of the Central Bank. Minister Jardim declared that he only heard about this letter in the media and that the investigation has nothing to do with said letter. He cannot say if this letter is real or not. The investigation is just to bring clarity on the activities of the Bank.
