Colombia’s government promotion agency brings new opportunities for 2015

In PROCOLOMBIA’s efforts to continue the commercial connection between Colombian exporters and Caribbean buyers, the promotion agency will host important business events in 2015.

colombian_flagBOGOTA -  As a response to Colombia’s economic progress and to foster its expansion and growth, PROCOLOMBIA will continue its efforts to connect Colombian exporters and international buyers by hosting important events in 2015. One of the most expected of next year’s first quarter is the 55th Matchmaking Forum to be held on February 19-20, 2015 at the Corferias Great Hall in Bogota.

More than 2,000 Colombian companies from the Agribusiness, Apparel, Manufacturing, and Services sectors will be present, showcasing their products that offer several competitive advantages for international importers. Registered buyers will be able to schedule one-on-one business meetings with Colombian exporters and they will receive personalized support from Procolombia advisors.

"The Matchmaking Forum presents several opportunities for entrepreneurs to diversify markets, take advantage of free trade agreements in force and get to know the diverse offer of Colombian products," said Maria Claudia Lacouture, president of PROCOLOMBIA.

The product diversity during the 50th Matchmaking Forum this past February 2014, was one of the main characteristics that attracted international buyers to the event.  Particularly in the Caribbean, exports to the region remain on high demand for the upcoming 55thMatchmaking Forum. According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics, DANE, Colombian exports to the Caribbean reached US $449 million from January to October 2014.

Procolombia expects more than 80 buyers from Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Barbados, Surinam, St. Lucia, Guadalupe, Aruba, Curacao and the Bahamas. Buyers from these markets are looking for snacks, processed foods, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and bakery products in the agribusiness sector; construction materials, home furniture, articles for office, home and hotel and packaging materials in the manufacturing sector; casual apparel, swimwear, uniforms and footwear in the textile and apparel sector.

The relationships between local buyers and Colombian exporters will be strengthened with the support of PROCOLOMBIA in events like the Matchmaking forum. Other important events taking place in Colombia during the first quarter of 2015 are:

Colombiatex 2015 in Medellin

From January 27-29, international buyers of raw materials, textiles, apparel, and full package items will have the opportunity to meet with 450 Colombian manufacturers at Colombiatex 2015. This is Colombia’s specialized apparel manufacturing tradeshow and it is the most important business forum for this industry in Latin America. The event will be held in Medellin and the participating exporters will be featuring their offer in Active/Outdoor, Athletic, Swim, Casual, Resort, Denim, Lifestyle Brands, Textiles, Raw materials.

Colombia Travel Mart/ANATO in Bogota

The Matchmaking forum that caters specifically to those in the tourism industry will be held from February 25-27 along with the ANATO (National Association of Travel and Tourism Agents) Tourism Fair. The event offers international buyers the opportunity to meet with tour-operators and suppliers of the travel and tourism industry in Colombia. Registered participants also have the option to attend FAM trips to get a closer look of Colombia’s must-visit spots.
