Companies have until October 1 for sales tax-rate on receipt

Minister Jose JardimWILLEMSTAD – Supermarkets, groceries, and other companies have until October 1 of this year to start registering the sales tax on their sales receipts for each item or service. This is according to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim in a letter to business owners.

Many business owners had complained they had too little time to make the adjustments to the VAT system. Minister Jardim fully recognizes the complexity of the automation and the link to the POS system. Companies now have until October 1 the time to fix everything. The sales tax was differentiated recently. From October 1 till January 1 next year, business owners will basically have a dual display on the receipt  mention the prices with and without the applicable sales tax.
