December 2013: Almost 10 million guilders in deposits while 6.3 million in loans

Central BankWILLEMSTAD – At the end of last year, the people of Curacao and Sint Maarten have deposited a substantial amount of money in the banks. The total amount is almost 10 million guilders, which was deposited in December alone. This is according to the Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten (CBCS).

According to the CBCS the demand deposits were 2.37 million for residents and 896 thousand for non residents. The savings deposits were 1.56 million for residents and 80 million for non residents. Time deposits were 1.71 million for residents and 409 thousand for non residents. Thus, the deposits for residents and non residents of Curacao amounted to 5.64 million and 1.38 million respectively.

On Sint Maarten, the total deposit for residents was 1.66 million and for non residents 1.11 million. The grand total of the two islands is 7.31 million for residents and 2.50 million for non residents.

The CBCS informs that the commercial loans during that month were 2.23 million for residents and 176 thousand for non residents. Individual loans were 1.60 million for residents and 170 thousand for non residents. Others loans were registered at 321 thousand and 1.788. Curacao has a total of 4.14 million in loans for residents and 348 thousand for non residents.  For Sint Maarten this number is 1.44 million for residents and 372 for non residents.  The total of the two islands for residents and non residents is 5.58 million and 721 thousand respectively. This is 6.3 million in loans for December 2013.
