Expedia reports new travel demand markets for Curacao

WillemstadBELLEVUE, Wash. – The Expedia group, one of the world's largest online travel companies, is pleased to announce that travel demand for Curacao hotels on Expedia.com® and Hotels.com® sharply increased from several atypical markets including Brazil and Germany  in the first three quarters of 2014 when compared to the same time period in 2013.

The data indicates that the United States remains the key feeder market for Curacao and the Netherlands maintains its position as the second most important market of origin for the destination on all Expedia platforms. However, the data reported that demand from Brazil grew nearly 90 percent and from Germany more than 50 percent year over year. Overall, the Expedia group reports that travel demand to Curacao has increased nearly 20 percent year over year.

“While the United States and the Netherlands continue to play a vital role in shaping Curacao’s tourism landscape, Brazil and Germany have emerged this year as demand drivers  due to increased connectivity within the region,” said Demetrius Canton, Director of Lodging Partner Services for the Caribbean, for Expedia group. “Attending NATOS and meeting with valued partners will provide  our Market Management team the opportunity to strategize about capitalizing on these new demand markets in the year ahead and further identify the needs of  our valued partners.”

This December, Expedia’s Market Management team will attend the North American Tour Operators Symposium, Curacao’s premier trade event. Throughout symposium, Expedia executives will share the latest news including information on innovative marketing tools and recommendations on how hotel partners can take advantage of the company’s mobile technologies, tools and market intelligence to achieve increased visibility and incremental demand for their properties.

Expedia continues to form new partnerships in the region, adding more properties to its portfolio, thereby advancing the company’s commitment to driving tourism growth. By working with Expedia group, hotels in Curacao gain exposure to the more than 150 websites in more than 70 countries worldwide, in addition to a myriad of mobile sites and apps, from brands such as Expedia®, Hotels.com®, Hotwire®, Egencia®, Expedia Affiliate Network® and Venere®.
