Import and Export figures have fallen by 6.8% and 20.9% in 2017 respectively

WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bureau of Statistics published the statistics on the international trade of 2017. These have been drawn up as secondary statistics which are derived mainly from customs documents by using the Eurotrace compilation and processing system. The trade statistics are drawn up according to the "special trade system", which takes into account the free zone and certain products.

The trade flow of products is analyzed on the basis of different accepted goods classifications, which have different detail levels and classification criteria.

The classification of goods is based on SITC (Standard International Trade Classification - Rev. 4), which is based on the harmonized system for the description and coding of goods (GS), established by the Customs Co-operation Council. All data in this press release are provisional figures, and are subject to possible revisions in future publications.
