New financial stop another blow for contractors

mike-willemWILLEMSTAD - A financial stop that has been in effect since November 2017 within the government is being extended, which means that the government is not committing itself to new projects. No maintenance on schools and roads and no new contract for those who have to do that work.

The contractors in Curaçao seem to accept the situation that has been in place for years. Many companies still only exist on paper and no longer employ employees, says Mike Willem of the Antillean Contractors Organization.

Willem also understands the government’s measure, the solution is that more money should circulate in the economy and that means drastic economic reforms.
