Slight recovery economic activity Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD - There is, on average, a somewhat positive development and slight improvement seen in the economic activity on the island. Compared to previous periods, there seems to be a slight recovery.
This is evident from the results of the latest business survey from December 2014 published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
More than 43 percent of the companies approached have indicated in this semi-annual survey to have invested in 2014. This is 5 percentage points more than was measured in June 2014 and equal to the rate of December 2013. The number of companies that have indicated to have had investment barriers in the last six months of 2014 also increased by 5 percentage points to 39 percent.
The opinion on the investment climate is very slightly improved compared with June 2014. The percentage of companies that have indicated that the investment climate is good, remained 7. The percentage of companies that indicated that the investment climate is poor has decreased from 36 to 34. The trade, catering and industry are the industries with the least positive perception. Also in the construction sector the perception of the investment climate is below average.
