Tourism contributes record amount to Curaçao economy
WILLEMSTAD – The tourism sector on the island contributed last year with a record amount of 750 million guilders to the economy of Curaçao.
Slightly less than half of them came from Europe: 340 million. The South American visitors spent 220 million guilders on the island, the North American tourists almost 130 million.
European tourists stay longer on the island than American. A third of the visitors will sleep in one of the larger hotels; the rest either in apartments or staying with family and friends.
