VBC: “Postpone introduction sealed cash registers again”

WillemstadWILLEMSTAD - The Curacao Business Association (VBC) once again asked the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim not to set the date of introduction of the mandatory tax cash registry system on August 1, but to postpone this until adequate information and training are given and the problems have been solved.

This was announced by the VBC in a recent newsletter. The introduction of a mandatory sealed cash register system was supposed to be implemented for companies in retail, personal services, hospitality and lotteries on January 1, but in December 2013, the government announced that it will postpone it until August 1 at the urging of the business community due to practical implementation perils.

But according to the VBC, the government came to realize that the mandatory cash register system requires adjustments and revisions.

A cash register system means a cash register with integrated or separate printer approved by the Government Accountants Bureau (SBAB). This cash register is installed by a qualified installer and has a cash-identification number. The main purpose of this system is to better capture the totality of sales of the company.

The VBC believes that before this new system is implemented, the government should properly inform the businesses that will use this sealed cash registry.
