Breakfast Briefing Topic: Management of Supervised Institutions

Compliance Services Caribbean and Curaçao International Financial Services Association are pleased to extend an invitation to attend the upcoming Breakfast Briefing on December 7, 2012. Keynote speaker Professor Bob Hoogenboom will deliver a speech on the “Management of Supervised Institutions”.

The number of compliance requirements is increasing while requirements are becoming more extensive. The question is whether all these rules, requirements, laws and procedures contribute to a real solution? Does it make a difference, or are we creating nothing more than an illusion of protection?

During the Breakfast Briefing, Bob Hoogenboom will focus on a study done by him covering compliance and the role and function of compliance within an organization. This research has led to some surprising insights. How can organizations prevent that the compliance officer will become the punching bag of various internal interests, and how compliance can be deployed in a realistic manner so that it leads to a more effective internal organization?

Bob Hoogenboom is professor of Forensic Business Studies. He is currently involved with the Institute of Forensic Accountancy (Instituut voor Forensische Accountancy) at the Nyenrode Business University, he is a member of Transparency International Nederland and of the Netherlands Intelligence Study Association (NISA).

He is also Professor of Police and Security Studies at the VU University Amsterdam. In 2009 he became a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE). His publications, amongst which his dissertation, concern research topics in the fi eld of fraud and fraud prevention, integrity issues and public-private collaboration in the security industry.
