MIAMI - HBO has confirmed the season two premiere of the Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated hit drama series True Detective, along with the debut of two new original comedies, Ballers and The Brink, on Sunday, June 21stin the Caribbean, simultaneously with the United States.
Considered “the most intelligent series in TV history” by British philosopher Nick Land, True Detective returns with another mysterious drama in this eight-episode second season. A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch star. Written and created by Emmy® nominee Nic Pizzolatto, with the first two episodes directed by Justin Lin (The Fast & The Furious franchise, upcoming Star Trek 3).
Following ‘True Detective’ is the premiere of new comedy series Ballers, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Created and executive produced by Steve Levinson (HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Entourage); executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, Peter Berg, Dany Garcia, Julian Farino, Evan Reilly and Rob Weiss.

This epic dark comedy focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate, desperate men: Secretary of State Walter Larson, lowly Foreign Service officer Alex Talbot and ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Tilson, who must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War Three. The Brink takes us on a wild ride across multiple time zones to show how the foibles, egos and rivalries of political leaders can take us to the brink of world war. Jack Black, Tim Robbins, Pablo Schreiber, Aasif Mandvi, Maribeth Monroe, Eric Ladin, Esai Morales and Geoff Pierson star. Executive produced by Jerry Weintraub, Roberto Benabib and Jay Roach; created by Roberto Benabib and Kim Benabib.
