CNSJF 2014 was just phenomenal

We still had to recuperate from this whole experience before being able to tell you how truly phenomenal this festival was. Not only the two day festival, but also the tribute to one of Curaçao’s top musicians, Rignald Recordino, better known as Doble R, last week Thursday.

In the beginning there were many who weren’t really thrilled about the lineup of artists for this year’s festival, but after Friday and Saturday the opinions were completely different. Bruno Mars was truly a showman. He gave Curaçao an unforgettable experience. “It’s like he’s from another planet,” one of his fans told Curaçao Chronicle. CNSJF was sold out on Saturday.

The first day of the festival was also a huge success, even though, from what we have seen, there were less people compared to Saturday. The legendary Rod Stewart, who performed on the first night was clearly sweating in his tight red suit. I think he didn’t know that Curaçao at this time of year is really hot.

Maná also performed during the first night of the festival. It was the second time the popular band from Mexico played at the CNSJF during its five year span. It turned out to be the right choice. The area was filled up with fans which had the time of their life. It was notable that especially the visitors from Latin American were singing their hearts out and savoring the unique experience.

The real jazz lovers were less pleased; Only Diana Reeves and her band were able to please the jazz public on Friday night.

Other artists who gave tremendous presentations were Janelle Monae, Chic, Sierra Maestra, Juan Luis Guerra, Nile Rodgers and Chaka Khan.
