Curaçao celebrated Flag Day – 30 years Curaçao flag

flag_originalWILLEMSTAD – The people of Curaçao came together on the Brion plaza in Otrabanda to raise the flag of the nation. They did this while singing the national anthem “Nos tera” (Our Country).

Uniformed groups, in which our youth was very well represented, raised their heads and demonstrated pride and respect for our flag, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

All this happened under the watchful eye of the Governor of Curacao, Her Excellency Mrs. Lucille George-Wout and husband, President of Parliament, Mr. Marcolino ‘Mike’ Franco and the Prime Minister of Curaçao, Mr. Ivar Asjes and other special guests. The Consul-General of the United States of America, Mr. James Moore also attended the ceremony.

The designer of the flag, Mr. Martin den Dulk, was also part of the ceremony. He had the honor to supervise the raising of the flag.
