Curacao Lions Club with its Annual Blood Donor Drive

Blood Donor Drive 2013WILLEMSTAD – On October 1, 2013, Curacao Lions Club initiated its annual campaign called the Blood Donor Drive which takes place on October 7, 8 and 9 of this year. As part of this promotional campaign, Lions Club will close the Blood Donor Drive, together with Giro Bank, with a tremendous walk called; ‘Lions Walk for Blood Donors’. This walk will take place on Sunday October 13. With the Blood Donor Drive, Lions Club, together with Giro Bank, wants to contribute to the increase of the Blood Bank’s data base.

This year, Blood Donor Drive celebrates its 6th anniversary and its Lions Club’s tradition to present a well organized project. During the last five years, Curacao Lions Club has been able to recruit 1020 new blood donors for the Blood Bank. Even though this number seems big, it is still not enough. Lions Club also tries to show the importance in donating blood to help save lives.

Those that are interested in donating blood and are between the ages of 18 and 60 can drop by at Red Cross Blood Bank at ‘Huize Batavia’ between October 7 and 9 starting at 8 in the morning. The registration continues until 4 in the afternoon. Anyone interested must be registered in Curacao and must have a valid identification (I.D. driver’s license or passport). Members of the Lions Club will assist with the registration. After examination, each person will receive an appointment with Dr. Winkel who will determine if the person can become a blood donor or not. In other words, a well organized process with the necessary care to ensure good quality.
