Companies in the financial sector are suffering due to the general financial malaise the country is in. Prove of this is that these companies are slashing jobs or are leaving the Curacao market and go establish themselves somewhere else.

The MeesPierson Managing Director, Victor den Hoedt, explained that last Friday they had to dismiss some employees. According to Mr. Den Hoedt, this decision was made because of the circumstances surrounding the current situation on the market. Six of the 48 employees were dismissed. These were employees with administrative positions. Mr. Den Hoedt said that the bank profoundly laments this drastic measure but each of these employees were personally informed of the situation. The MeesPierson top man also said that the clients can continue to rely on the company with its professional financial advices and trustworthy services which the company is known for.
