Netherlands worried about early dismissal Cabinet Hodge

Transitional GovernmentTHE HAGUE/WILLEMSTAD – The Government of the Netherlands has voiced their concern about the early resignation of the Cabinet Hodge. On Thursday, the issue was addressed in the Kingdom Council of Ministers (RMR).

Previous talks between the Dutch and Curaçao politicians seemed, according to the Netherlands, to indicate that the transitional government with professionals would remain longer. After the visit of Prime Minister Daniel Hodge and Ministers Steven Ministers Martina and Nelson Navarro, the Dutch politicians had the confidence that work was being done to restore the financial situation of Curacao.

Dutch politicians had the hope that the Curacao Government would remain in office for six months. The RMR does not see the resignation as a sign that there will be a stable public administration. Moreover, a caretaker government can only attend to current affairs and not start any new legislation. The government in the Netherlands is therefore concerned that the necessary reforms will not find their passage.
