Survey on mismanagement former Premier Schotte

Gerrit SchotteWILLEMSTAD - Former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte Curaçao must be in a so-called civil survey to defend himself against allegations of financial mismanagement at the local water and electricity company.

The survey should clarify the affairs of several public limited companies, government-affiliated companies. Besides Schotte, two directors are accountable.

The prosecution started the investigation in response to a request from a citizen’s movement Curaçao in July last year.

Schotte had to resign late September of 2012. During his reign there were protests accusing him of corruption in public limited companies.

The current Minister of Finance Jose Jardim has immediately, after the departure of the Schotte-government, commissioned a study on the financial situation at the NVs.
