Two doctors admit fraud

Curacao hospitalWILLEMSTAD –  In an investigation into fraud in healthcare, two doctors have already admitted that they have committed fraud. The two indicated that they received payments  from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) which were illegally charged.  The two doctors also said that they will repay the unjustified amount they’ve received.

This story was confirmed by the Health Inspector Jan Huurman. The confessions were made only after Huurman had faced the fraudulent doctors with evidence. The fraud is mainly focused on the fight against obesity. Many of these operations are not reimbursed by the SVB. Doctors therefore give a different type of operation on the declaration to the SVB, so it is then reimbursed. Huurman has indicated that the exposure of the two fraudulent medical research is far from complete.

Last week Huurman met with the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) to see how they can work together to fight these fraudulent acts.
