Two million passengers through Hato in 2018

Curacao AirportWILLEMSTAD – The commercial activities of the Curacao Airport Partners (CAP) consist of two parts. First are all the aircrafts that arrive and depart from the airport and secondly are all the non aeronautical activities, which consist of the various stores and businesses.

The non aeronautical activities ensure about 30% of the revenues and the aeronautical about 70%. According to Peggy Croes, CAP’s Chief Commercial Officer, we have to be grateful that there are various airlines from different key markets which use the Curacao airport.

There are European companies (KLM, Air Berlin, Arkefly), North American companies (American Airlines, Air Canada, Westjet), South American companies (Avianca, Copa, Suriname Airways) and regional airlines (Insel Air, Liat, Tiara Air). According to Croes, the current situation at our airport now is that you can travel to any part of the world from Curacao.

There were a total of 1.772.501 passengers who went through our airport, either domestic, international and transit or end destination.

According to Croes, a calculation based on the available seats for Curacao, there will be about 1.039.362 passengers going through the airport this year, which is lower compared to Aruba’s 1.441.569 projected visitors and 1.414.786 for Sint Maarten. Croes also indicated that Curacao could reach the milestone of 2.03 million passengers by 2018.
