Headache? It may be time for some sex

headacheHeadache, it is often an excuse for not having sex, but if you have a headache you better do it right. Sex might just a good medicine for headache.

"Honey not right now, I have a headache." That excuse is no longer viable, according to researchers at the University of Munster in Germany.

In a study they showed that having sex during a migraine attack can actually help with the headache.

Sex away your pain

Half of the researched migraine patients who participated in the study noted that their headaches became less by sex. One in five patients even had no more headaches after lovemaking.

But how can it be that the pain subsides? According to the researchers, the body produces endorphins during sex. This is a natural pain suppressant by the body. This pain is suppressed, or it may even totally disappear from the body.

According to the researchers, there is even a group of male patients who have sex often as medication for headache.

Relieve the pain without sex

If you absolutely don’t want sex when you have migraines then there are a number of 'normal' tips to relieve the pain. tips:

  • Make sure you drink enough water. Dehydration is a major cause of headaches.
  • Ensure good ventilation in your home or office. Fresh air helps combat headaches.
  • Make sure you have a good posture. Thus you avoid discomfort in your back and neck muscles, so you get a headache again.
  • Avoid stress. Take it easy and take occasional time for yourself.
  • Have your eyes checked! If you actually need glasses, but do not use one then  your eyes will bear the extra pressure. This means you can quickly get a headache.
  • Live and eat regularly. A good rhythm reduces the risk of even more headaches.
