Salud sin Fronteras goes beyond borders to assist you in Medellin (part 2)
WILLEMSTAD, MEDELLIN - Salud Sin Fronteras (Health Without Borders) is a Colombian based company dedicated to representing and promoting the top performing hospitals in the city of Medellin, Colombia.
Curaçao Chronicle spoke with Clara Heredia Viana, CEO of Salud Sin Fronteras during her stay here in Curaçao. She was on the island to represent the company and to promote its services.
According to Clara, they attend to national and international events and trade shows related to medical tourism with the aim of attracting possible clients.
"We work closely with local, national and international authorities in initiatives that promote Medellin as a healthcare destination. What we do is we provide our clients with customized advice about travel arrangements (lodging, local ground transportation, interpreting services and tourist guides). When our clients travel to Medellin for their medical needs, they don’t want to worry about the logistics. They have other things in mind. This is what makes us important for them.”
We work around our customers’ request. Once we were asked to provide someone who can stay with the customers at all times. And that’s what we did. We made sure that someone was there with them at all times,” Clara explained.
Salud Sin Fronteras represents 7 medical institutions in Medellin. These are: Grupo Empresarial Las Americas, Hospital con Alma Pablo Tobon Uribe, Clinica El Rosario, Clinica Cardio VID, San Vicente Fundacion, Clinica Las Vegas Clinica de Oftalmologia Sandiego.
According to the representative the main reasons to choose Medellin as the place for one’s medical needs are that there are four of their hospitals which are ranked high in the America Economia magazine. This magazine measures patients’ safety and dignity, human capital, infrastructure and investment capacity, knowledge management, efficiency and prestige. About 14,600 foreign patients were treated in the last three years in their medical facilities, including 5000 from Curaçao.
Their international patients come from the Caribbean Islands, the United States, Canada, Spain, Venezuela, Ecuador and others.
There is a high demand on specialties such as Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Urology procedures.
Medellín, Colombia is now recognized as a healthcare destination in Latin America. Its medical facilities are well-known thanks to their experience in high complexity medical cases and significant scientific advances.
