Public ProsecutorWILLEMSTAD - This morning, members of the Landsrecherche Curaçao (Investigation Team) conducted a number of arrests in an investigation into official corruption in connection with residence permits/residence permit applications within the Admittance Organization (TO). The arrests took place in collaboration with the Curaçao Police Corps (KPC) and the Team Bestrijding Ondermijning (TBO). In addition, the head of the TO was arrested, as well as an employee, on suspicion of, among other things, official corruption, forgery, and abuse of function. The suspects are E.R.C. (51) and L.L.M.L. (47).

A number of searches have also been conducted under the auspices of the Judge-Commissioner and in the presence of the Public Prosecutor (OM). Similarly, a number of offices have been searched within the building of the TO itself. At this moment, the searches are still ongoing.

The National Investigation Team is a detective body with a special task. It focuses on the detection of behaviors that affect the integrity of public administration. The team only conducts investigations on behalf of the Attorney General (PG).

Official corruption is a threat to the rule of law. The Curaçao National Investigation Team and the Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) Curaçao, therefore, give priority to investigating such forms of corruption.
