45 arrests during carnival

Public ProsecutionWILLEMSTAD - Police have arrested 45 people in total during the carnival period. Last night during the Marchadi Despedida (Mardi grass) thirteen people were arrested. The Public Prosecutor (OM) collected in total 5050 guilders through fines that detainees had to pay immediately after arrest at the police station to avoid a subpoena.

Most of the arrests were made for riding on the motorcycle without a helmet, not possessing valid car papers, possession of weapons and drugs and public drunkenness. In addition to the arrests for relatively minor offenses, the carnival period came to an end without any major problems.

In the context of 'Aktua Robes, Sintie Unbes' (act wrong, feel it immediately) offenders were dealt with equally. For certain offenses, there was no persecution as a fine was immediately paid at the police station.

29 persons have received a summons for the treatment of their case in court on March 4 and 30. Sixteen detainees chose to pay a fine.
