Almost 400 kilos of marijuana intercepted by the Coast Guard
WILLEMSTAD - A major drug bust this week. The Dash-patrol aircraft of the Coast Guard discovered at about 40 nautical miles northwest of the island a suspicious go-fast boat. The officers then informed the Rescue and Coordination Team.
The team decided to send boats from both Curaçao and Aruba to inspect the suspected vessel. Two cutters and two superrhibs were deployed. The Coast Guard officers found three crew members on the boat; two Jamaicans and a Dutch citizen who resides in Curaçao. The officers also found a considerable quantity of drugs.
The boat and its crew were transferred to the focal point of the Coast Guard in Parera. There the crew was handed over to the police.
After further inspection, officers found that there were 32 bales of marijuana with a total weight of 398 kilos.
