Another major drug bust by the Coast Guard
WILLEMSTAD – Last weekend a large batch of drugs was intercepted on a 'go-fast' by the Caribbean Coastguard. The radar operator and the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC), identified the suspect boat south of Cas Abou about midnight.
The Dash patrol aircraft and a SuperRHIB were immediately sent to the sport were the go-fast was located. When arrived they found an unmanned go-fast. The crew was believed to have fled after they were discovered by the Coast Guard. On board, the officers discovered 15 bags of more than 400 kilos of cocaine.
Police were alerted. They started a search on land but to no avail. The vessel and the drugs were transferred to the Coast Guard base in Parera. The drugs were handed over to the police. It is the second time in less than one week that a large quantity of drugs was intercepted.
