Appointments Common Court of Justice

courtTHE HAGUE - Mrs. S. Verheijen, Mrs. F.V.L.M. Giebels-Wannyn and Mr. F.J.F. Gerard will become new members of the Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. The Kingdom Council of Ministers has decided to nominate them for appointment on the proposal of Minister Dekker for Legal Protection, also on behalf of his counterparts from Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten.

Mr. Gerard (1961) started per July 1, 2018 as court civil case law in first instance in combination with examining judge criminal justice with the location Bonaire. He is currently (senior) judge at the court Limburg. Before that, he also worked as a member of the Common Court of Justice with the court in first instance in Aruba.

Ms Verheijen (1973) begins as per 1 August 2018 as a court of criminal justice in combination with the civil case law in first instance with Aruba as its location. She is currently a counselor at the criminal justice department of the Hague Court of Appeal. Before that she was also a member of the Common Court of Justice and, among other things, working in higher appeal cases in civil and criminal law.

Ms Giebels-Wannyn (1976) starts as per 1 August 2018 as a civil case law higher appeal in combination with criminal justice appeal with Curaçao as the location. She is a local lawyer who started as a court secretary at the Joint Court in 2003 and has since then gained experience as a judge in training in various jurisdictions in the Court of First Instance of Curaçao and in the Court. She then worked as a deputy judge of the Court and worked at the District Court of Rotterdam, seat Dordrecht.
