Car used in Wiels’ murder found

Curacao policeWILLEMSTAD – The police has seized a car which is associated with the murder of the political leader Helmin Wiels. The car meets the description of the vehicle seen at the public beach of Marie Pampoen, which is where Wiels was shot to death on Sunday May 5, 2013.

After the police found the car they went to a car rental at Rooi Santu which is at the east side of the island. There the police and the Public Prosecution have seized another car and some articles which could be beneficial in their investigation.


The two brothers suspected of the liquidation of Wiels will be arraigned today before the magistrate. He will determine whether the custody of the suspects is extended or not. The two have posted a threatening video on YouTube after the murder, in which they announce that the murder of Wiels was the first of a series. The brothers deny that they have anything to do with the murder of the political leader.
