Chip in in the fight against car theft

parliamentWILLEMSTAD - All vehicles on the island will get a license plate with a chip on it. The Minister of Traffic and Transportation Zita Jesus-Leito announced this during her dissertation in parliament yesterday. The new license plate is intended to fight against car theft which has become a serious problem on the island.

There is only one problem; this project costs 6 million guilders and that money has not been budgeted for this project. This is why the Minister was in parliament to ask the MPs for their support.

In the first 9 months of this year, 325 cars were stolen, which is 85 more than in 2016.
