Coast Guard in action

Coast GuardWILLEMSTAD - At the direction of the Rescue & Coordination Center (RCC) of the Coastguard CARIB, a go-fast near Curacao was intercepted by a Metal Shark on Sunday evening, December 9th around 6pm. The go-fast that sailed about 30 km off the coast tried to flee when the Metal Shark was seen while the persons on board threw several packages overboard.

Warning shots have been fired to force the go-fast to stop. In the end, disabling fire was applied after a hot pursuit of the vessel and the go-fast was stopped.

The Metal Shark has fished all the packages out of the water. 5 people were arrested on board the go-fast.

Both the persons and the packages have been brought ashore at the Coast Guard Support Center Parera. The suspects and the packages, presumably narcotics, were handed over to the police for further investigation.
