Criminal extradited from Suriname to Curacao

WILLEMSTAD – A man of whom it was not certain whether he was Surinamese or from Curacao, will soon be extradited to Curacao anyways. He appears, after a thorough investigation to have a Dutch passport.

Suriname laws do not permit the extradition of their own citizens and according to reports this man knew about this and claimed he’s from Suriname. He was involved in an attempted murder and violation of the Firearms act. He had been serving a fifteen year sentence in prison in Curacao but had escaped and fled to Suriname.

Suriname has its own passport and therefore it could not be proven that this person was from Suriname. Since he was found with a Dutch passport it was determined then that he will be extradited.

When exactly he will be extradited is not known.
