Helicopter against crime
WILLEMSTAD – A helicopter will be reintroduced in order to counteract crime on the island. This is an essential part of the new coalition agreement of the next government headed by Hensley Koeiman. The new government also wants to continue the use of drones and the so-called Road Watch.
The reintroduction of a police helicopter is remarkable. Nelson Navarro, outgoing Minister of Justice has, on several occasions, indicated that a helicopter is expensive to purchase and maintain for Curaçao. The Coast Guard has a helicopter that can be used by law in some cases.
The coalition parties all agree that crime on the island is worrisome. And something has to be done now.
