Mediation Bar Association came to nothing

courthouse-1WILLEMSTAD - The effort to reduce the rising tension between the lawyers who are part of the Bar Association has failed. This is according to the Dutch newspaper Antilliaans Dagblad.

Several lawyers have not been willing to leave the case as it is. An example is a motion filed by the lawyer Marius Römer against the Dean of the association, Caroline Fievez. This motion has been included in the agenda of the general membership meeting on February 4 and will be treated as an official agenda item.

Earlier it was announced that at this moment, everything is being done to prevent the division, which recently arose within the Bar Association.

Römer’s threat to file a motion against Fievez, which by now has become a reality, makes it clear that two camps have emerged among lawyers who work in Curacao. On one side you have supporters of Eldon “Peppie” Sulvaran and on the other side, the Bas Association and its Dean.

On February 4, the lawyers can fight it out during the general membership meeting. Two of the agenda items are Fievez’ complaint against Sulvaran and Römer’s motion against Fievez.
