New Prosecutor for Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD - Bas van de Vliet (45) began on October 15, 2015 as Public Prosecutor in Curaçao. He replaces prosecutor Adeline Waveren, who recently went back to the Netherlands.
Van de Vliet was formerly a prosecutor in Amsterdam. He also worked at the Public Prosecution in Zwolle, where he was, among other things, in charge of homicide, narcotics and human trafficking cases.
Van de Vliet has extensive experience in the field of fighting crime and in that context worked in the international law for a long time, including several years at the International Court for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UNIIIC in Lebanon.
