OM: “Inspection dangerous and exotic animals”

L'aldeaWILLEMSTAD - A multidisciplinary team consisting of police (Animals Brigade), Public Prosecutor (OM) Curaçao and experts from the Veterinary Service, Parke Tropikal, Environment and Nature and Medicine and Health Affairs on Thursday carried out an inspection at a place at the Santa Catharinaweg.

The animals there were subjected to an inspection. The animals were registered, their wellbeing and health were also inspected. Authorities also inspected the cages and the presence of fresh water and food.

All this is under the inspection law of dangerous and exotic animals on the island. Such inspections will take place more often. Even in homes where notification is received of the presence of dangerous exotic animals as pets. These animals should not be held as pets in accordance with the law and may not be imported in accordance with the CITES Convention.

The authorities invoke the Criminal Code Curacao Sections 2: 234, 2: 335, 3:10, the Public Order Ordinance, the Ordinance Principles and Nature Protection and CITES for their inspections.
