OM statement on lawsuit 30 concerned citizens against former Prime Minister
WILLEMSTAD – The Public Prosecution (OM) has reviewed the lawsuit filed by 30 concerned citizens. The OM gave the citizens a written notification on June 10 of this year about their decision concerning their lawsuit against former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte and former Minister of Finance George Jamaloodin.
The complaint cites several possible offenses. A few of these accusations have already been under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Team (RTS) and they have no reason to persecute one or more persons. The information brought forth by the citizens does not lead to another investigation.
Other facts of the lawsuit are currently being investigated by justice authorities. The OM can communicate about these facts only after the completion of this investigation.
According to the OM in their press release, the lawsuit does not call for the creation of new investigations.
Also the lawsuit does not give enough proof that Schotte and Jamaloodin should be prosecuted for treason.
The Prosecution currently sees no reason to give more information.
