Payment 1.8 million Schotte only after verdict in Babel case is irrevocable

Gerrit-Schotte-10WILLEMSTAD - The payment of the 1.8 million guilders to the state by former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte depends on the execution of the verdict by the Public Prosecution Office. The judge considers it proven that Schotte obtained this money illegally.

As is known, Schotte went into cassation in the Babel case, in which he was suspected of forgery, official bribery and money laundering. The confiscation order can only be executed if the verdict in the criminal case becomes irrevocable, says the spokesperson for the court Sigmar Carmelia.

In the confiscation case of his partner Cicely van der Dijs, the claim for deprivation has been rejected.
